Our client is a long/short hedge fund with a strong focus on Japanese equities and expanding exposure across Asia. They are hiring an Investment Analyst.
This role is ideal for someone with deep expertise in Japan’s small and mid-cap equity space. You must be highly proficient in Japanese (reading, writing, and speaking) to conduct thorough due diligence, review local financial documents, and engage directly with company management and market participants.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct in-depth fundamental research and build proprietary financial models for Japanese SMID Cap companies
Analyze performance, valuation, market inefficiencies, governance developments, and industry trends
Generate high-conviction investment ideas, particularly in under-covered areas of the market
Monitor regulatory changes and provide actionable insights to the CIO
Requirements:
At least 3 years of experience in equity research or buy-side investing, with a focus on Japanese SMID Cap companies
Advanced financial modeling and valuation skills, including handling complex structures
Proven ability to generate differentiated investment ideas through rigorous analysis
Strong intellectual curiosity, work ethic, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Professional working proficiency in Japanese in order to liaise with Japanese speaking stakeholders.
