About the Vessel Operations Specialist Role:
The role of the Vessel Operations Specialist involves overseeing VLGC (Very Large Gas Carrier) chartering and daily operational management within the aerospace company. Reporting to the Feedstock Procurement Manager, this position also maintains a dotted line reporting structure to the Asia Supply Chain Director.
The role of the Vessel Operations Specialist involves overseeing VLGC (Very Large Gas Carrier) chartering and daily operational management within the aerospace company. Reporting to the Feedstock Procurement Manager, this position also maintains a dotted line reporting structure to the Asia Supply Chain Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with freight market stakeholders and brokers to gather insights on trends and market developments, facilitating informed decisions in freight chartering
- Partner closely with the Feedstock Procurement Manager to secure VLGCs that optimize supply chain value in the feedstock procurement process
- Demonstrate proficiency in VLGC chartering processes and possess commercial acumen with adept negotiation skills for tactical market positioning
- Independently manage VLGC charter negotiations, resolve commercial disputes, oversee CP contract management, and ensure adherence to internal approval processes and audit walk-throughs
- Ensure accurate documentation and timely system updates related to VLGC charters, vessel operations, and trade deal information, including BL date and quantity actualization, cost accruals/actualization, and payment tracking
- Possess working knowledge and experience in managing the physical operation of clean products such as LPG and Naphtha
- Ensure smooth and timely FOB/CFR/DAP vessel operations, including vessel vetting, stowage planning, issuing voyage orders, inspector nomination, LC handling, demurrage management, and risk control
- Foster strong working relationships and liaise with stakeholders across various departments to fulfill operational and contractual obligations arising from cargo trade and vessel charter
To excel in this role, prioritize building strong relationships with stakeholders, stay updated on industry trends, and leverage your negotiation skills to secure optimal VLGC charters. Additionally, maintain meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of operations and continuously seek opportunities for process optimization to drive efficiency and enhance supply chain value.
Key Requirements:
- Preferred knowledge or experience in VLGC chartering
- Commercially minded with at least 10 years of robust physical petroleum cargo operation experience
- Proficient understanding of petroleum product characteristics and logistics operational procedures
- Experience in SAP systems and familiarity with maritime law
- Confidence in dealing with commercial counterparts such as shipowners, brokers, and traders
- Team player capable of working under pressure in a fast-paced environment with counterparts in different time zones
- Meticulous, analytical multitasker with strong numerical skills
- Proactive, highly motivated individual with high personal integrity
- Openness to learning new business, systems, and procedures
