OVERVIEW

A shipping brokerage firm headquartered in Singapore is seeking a Broker to join its Tokyo office (Chiyoda-ku) during its start-up and expansion phase. The role will focus primarily on Dry Cargo / Dry Bulk businesses, including chartering, cargo broking, with plans to further expand into spot market transactions.

POSITION

Broker (Dry Cargo / Dry Bulk)
Tokyo Office Member – Start-up / Growth Phase

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Cargo broking activities in the Dry Cargo / Dry Bulk sector

• Dry chartering brokerage, including both spot and long-term charters

• Negotiation and coordination between shipowners, cargo owners, and traders, including contract terms and conditions

• New business development for the Tokyo office

• Depending on experience:

  • Sale & Purchase (S&P) of vessels

  • Grain trading–related business

• Close collaboration with the Singapore headquarters and regional offices in Taiwan and Shanghai

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Experience

• Experienced shipping broker, or

• Candidates from shipping companies with a strong interest in brokerage roles

Entry-Level / Inexperienced Candidates

• Inexperienced candidates may also be considered

• Any role within the shipping or maritime industry is acceptable

• Example: Candidates with approximately 2 years of seafaring experience may be considered if highly motivated

Personal Attributes

• Strong desire to build and grow business independently

• Comfortable working in a small team and fast-growing environment

• Compensation:

  • Base salary: approximately JPY 5–8 million per year

  • Plus performance-based incentive scheme
